Improving your personal and professional life with Emotional Intelligence

Many experts advocate emotional intelligence (EQ) is more important in life than intellectual intelligence (IQ).

Emotional intelligence is simply the ability to understand, express and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, think clearly, communicate effectively and constructively to others, empathise with them, overcome challenges and conflict, and to solve problems under pressure. Emotional Intelligence helps you to develop, maintain and build strong relationships (inside and outside of work) and to achieve your goals (personally and professionally).
eq is emerging as one of the most effective business skills
EQ is emerging as one of the most effective business skills of this century. It’s an important set of life skills, crucial in your professional and personal life. Countless studies conclude that what distinguishes a star performer from an average performer is superior EQ.

According to Harvard Business Review “Even though self-awareness — knowing who we are and how we’re seen — is important for job performance, career success, and leadership effectiveness, it’s in remarkably short supply in today’s workplace. In our nearly five-year research program on the subject, we’ve discovered that although 95% of people think they’re self-aware, only 10 to 15% actually are”.

The good news is, EQ is not fixed – through training and practice, you can develop and increase your EQ. This course aims to provide you with simple and practical models and tools to improve your EQ, managing your own and other people’s emotions, helping to bring your life into balance. By learning how to connect with your feelings, you can turn intention into action, and make informed decisions about what’s most important to you.

Is this right for you?

This course is for you, if you:
  • Wish to significantly improve your work performance and productivity
  • Wish to improve the quality of your relationships both inside and outside of work
  • Want to advance your career and be firmly in the driving seat – in control as opposed to out of control
  • Know you need to make some changes, but you don’t know how
  • Need practical help, which you can easily implement
  • Want to talk to someone, who can give you tailored guidance and support
improving your personal and professional life with emotional intelligence is right for you

What are the learning outcomes?

Together we will:
  • Understand the meaning of EQ
  • Understand the concept of multiple intelligences and how the brain works
  • Identify and understand how your own emotions and thinking patterns affect your work performance
  • Understand how applying emotionally intelligent skills can be used anywhere from managing a board meeting, presenting to a client, resolving conflict, developing high-performance teams to recruitment and selection success
  • Explore the key pillars of EQ (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management and self-motivation) and the impact these have on work performance
  • Understand how the brain processes and regulates our emotional responses and how we relate to others
  • Have more self-awareness, appreciating your strengths, whilst acknowledging areas to work on
  • Learn the competencies required to maximise performance – for yourself and for those you manage
The end goal is to assist you in constructing a personal development plan that will enhance your emotional intelligence capabilities, thereby improving your professional career and personal life success, which will also reduce feelings of anxiety, stress and being overwhelmed.
We cannot tell what may happen to us in the strange medley of life. But we can decide what happens in us – how we can take it, what we do with it – and that is what really counts in the end.
