Managing stress in a professional workplace

Do you need to reduce, prevent and relieve stress?

Trust me, I’ve been there, in the darkest of the very darkest places. In July 2017 I was hospitalised. Diagnosis – a suspected brain haemorrhage. If you’ve read my background, you’ll know I’m a fully qualified solicitor with over 15 years’ experience. I was burning the candle at both ends, at the top of my professional game, but completely without balance. In hindsight, I was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
ive worked on myself a lot. ive found balance in my life both professionally and personally
Fortunately, things are very different now. I’ve worked on myself, a lot. I’ve found balance in my life both professionally and personally, so that I can be at the top of and smashing both leagues (not just one). Following this difficult time, a year later I was promoted and went on to work for one of the world’s top international law firms. I know how hard the journey can be. Knowledge shared is knowledge squared. Through my own personal difficulties and experiences, my aim is to inspire and challenge you to reflect on your own stress management practices and resilience and to help you on your own journey towards a professional and personal life of balance, enrichment, health, achievement and success.

The truth is, we need resilience and stress management techniques not only to cope, but to thrive in this current, challenging climate we call life. When you are headed in a dark direction, can you catch yourself and do something about it? Before it’s too late?

“In 2019 the World Health Organisation officially recognised burnout in its international classification of diseases.

Studies show [those reporting] signs of burnout have enlarged amygdalas, the area in the brain that regulates fear and aggression. But burnout isn’t an academic exercise. It’s an all-consuming, systemic condition. It’s your entire body sending you one clear message. Something has to change, and it has to change now.

Put simply, burnout comes from a deep imbalance. Too much stress with too few rewards. Your exhausted, depleted. You no longer have patience, pleasure or serotonin. It’s the end, unless you turn it into something else and find your path towards recovery. You pick up the pieces of your life and you find a new way forward.”

Is this right for you?

Everyone deals with stress at some point in their life, no one is immune. Stress is a normal physical and psychological response. However, if stress is extreme or chronic, our bodies go into distress, significantly impacting our health and wellbeing.

Studies show that most people don’t realise they are burnt out until they are well and truly in the thick of being burnt out. By then, it’s a little late, though not impossible to come back. My aim is simple – to prevent this from ever happening to you. Truth is – I’d sooner give birth again than experience the pains I had in my head that night I was hospitalised.
This course is for you, if you:
  • Wish to improve your work performance
  • Want to protect (or find again) balance in your life, develop resilience and the tools and techniques to help manage stress and burnout
